Vehicle types: vans, pickups, trucks and more

A shared vehicle-type catalog powers listing forms and search filters.

The vehicle-type catalog starts with Sedan, SUV, MPV, Hatchback, Van, Pickup, Truck, Minibus, Bus, Crossover, Wagon, Coupe and Convertible. These are reference categories, not demo vehicle listings or automatic approval of any rental use.

Administrators and permitted staff manage Vehicle types under Vehicles & trips. Operations roles have management access by default. Administrators can grant or revoke the separate Allow vehicle-type management permission for other internal staff roles in Team & roles. Renters and vehicle owners cannot manage the catalog.

Authorized staff can add a type, rename its display label, set its display order, archive it or make it active again. The table supports search, status filtering and pagination. Archiving stops new type selections while preserving existing vehicle and booking records. Existing listings retain their classifications and can still be found in search.

Owners select an active type and enter the actual seating capacity when adding a vehicle. The form supports 1–90 seats to accommodate different vehicle classes. Seating capacity or a category label does not establish driving eligibility, roadworthiness, permits or insurance coverage; these still require the applicable review.

The Edit vehicle action lets owners and administrators update type, seating capacity and prices. A type or capacity change is blocked while the vehicle has active bookings and otherwise returns the vehicle for renewed accreditation. Existing booking prices are unchanged. Renaming a catalog label does not change the stored type assignment.
